Below are links to a few articles that have appeared over the past few years in which Janet features. They refer to her time working at the Ludlow Food Centre, where she was head chef during the set up phase, and then when it was opened.
As head chef, she was responsible for the creation and implementation of the kitchen recipes for products sold in the deli counter, on the shop floor, and in the Cafe Barn, including pies, quiches, ready meals, cakes and puddings.
As you will see below, one of her recipes caused quite a stir, being an extremely good seller, and then being picked up by the Hairy Bikers, after a visit they made to the Ludlow Food Centre. This was of course the Fidget Pie. Janet’s recipe is for a pastry case, filled with chunks of gammon cooked in cider, apple, and cheese, with a mustard mash topping. Her recipe came from her mother, and this family heritage was recently featured on a daytime television programme - ‘There’s no taste like home’, hosted by chef Gino D’Acampo. Janet’s daughter featured on this, showing how she has learnt to make Fidget Pie from her mum.
